Moving & Handling of People (Specialised)
This series of specialised discipline specific courses are designed for staff who move people in unusual settings including mental health staff, district nurses, podiatrists, social workers, midwives, speech and language therapists, and dental staff.
There is a choice of 7 courses
This intermediate level practical 1 day course provides manual handling knowledge and skills to mental health staff in accordance with current best practice.
This intermediate level 1 day course will focus on inanimate load and people handling issues relevant to district nurses. It will cover practical scenarios, postural issues and problems encountered by district nurses in the community.
This intermediate level half day course will focus on load and people handling and postural issues relevant to foot health staff. It will cover practical scenarios and problems encountered by podiatrists in community and out patient settings.
This entry level half day course will raise social workers' and care managers' awareness of manual handling and facilitate the role of specifying the manual handling element of care packages
This intermediate level 1 day course will focus on relieving the postural and back care issues relevant to midwives. It will cover practical scenarios including traditional birth, water birth, breast-feeding and bathing of babies.
This intermediate level half day course is designed to raise the awareness of speech & language therapists on relevant back care issues including working with toddlers on the floor, positioning of clients during treatment and moving of equipment between sites.
This entry level half day course will focus on relieving the postural and back care issues relevant to dental staff. It will cover practical scenarios including provision of dental care in a variety of settings
